Oh, honey, let me tell you about my day! You’d think things might slow down for Ashley one of these days, but nope, the universe has other plans. Today, it was my oldest son, Marcus, who decided to break his arm playing baseball at school.
A Day of Chaos and Confidence
Of course, with gods of timing’s help, they called me out of a very important work meeting to deal with it. Because when you’re an architect with deadlines, emergencies have a way of happening at the most inconvenient times. But that’s mom life, right? You’re juggling a hundred things, and here comes number 101. So I drop everything and rush to school, barely managing to grab my purse and keys on the way out the door.
By the time we got to the hospital, I’m running on nothing but a venti coffee and sheer adrenaline. Marcus is putting on his brave face, but we all know he’s in pain. When we walk in, we’re greeted by this lovely nurse with the kindest eyes, who immediately whisks him away for an x-ray. She’s giving me all the reassurance, and I’m like, “Honey, I’ve been here before, trust me.” It’s not our first ER visit—these boys of mine are always finding new ways to test their limits and my patience.
